Description:

Cycle touring trip over 2 days, to allow people to try cycle camping - but with a hotel option for those who cannot. Note a slower pace than usual is to be anticipated for this ride, to suit those carrying camping gear.

Day 1 about 75km with about 6km of gravel and around 600m climbing.

For reference, day 2 (15th Nov) about 75km with 15km gravel and around 600m climbing. (gravel avoidable on the 2nd day as it is a side trip)

Fri night stay at Rylestone,  Sat drive out to route and park cars at Growee Rd/ Bylong Valley way junction - base of gorge. Climb gorge along Bylong Valley way heading intially SW.  Carry Sat lunch Dinner at Cooyong Hotel. Softies stay here overnight.  HMAWOTN (campers) continue on after dinner about half an hour ride from hotel to an overnight camp at Munghorn Gap reserve. (it has toilets)

Kit: campers will need: Saturday lunch, plenty of water (enough to reach the Cooyong hotel in case we dont find some en route) ,a few snacks, rain jacket, warm top, sleeping bag, mat, tarp or tent, torch/headlamp, repair kit, suncream, and a means of carrying this lot on bike or body. Eg rack and panniers, or bikepacking bags.  Cycle touring advice available from Blue and Pink - possibility of borrowing some stuff too (ask).

note: As most of the ride is sealed, go for smooth rolling tyres, rather than knobblies. Touring tyres in the width range 32mm to 50mm should suit, one might get away with 28mm on the gravel section if careful.
